"Genuine
and heartfelt" The Times
The
interview process behind the Beaumont Project revealed a strong sense
of community identity: interviewees, irrespective of age, race, gender
and nationality, shared the same memories and stories of life on the estate
since 1962. Ostensibly trivial recollections took on a more profound importance
as filming continued, both affecting the residents personally and enriching
the Beaumont narrative. Smells of cooking wafting down corridors, eavesdropping
through walls, water fights fought, and fireman rescuing trapped residents
from broken lifts became poignant tales of an East End soon to disappear.

poignant obituary" The Observer |
